December Updates

Hello! November was . . . November. I’m here, I’m standing and let’s get into some updates:

  1. First of all, wordpress have made some updates to how composing a post looks. It’s not that much of an issue to me as I write on Google Docs, but this will definitely take some getting used to.

  2. I left my job on the 23rd November, and I’m telling myself it’s in pursuit of making decisions in my life that can ultimately make me happier, but we’ll see how that all works out.

  3. NaNoWriMo is over! Last month, I set myself a goal of writing 10,000 words for the month, and I actually did achieve this goal. I ended up writing 12,332 words which I’m quite impressed with myself for doing so.

  4. I’ve been working on Me & Your Ghost and it’s looking to be a bit longer than I’d originally anticipated. I mean, I know Jess isn’t complaining because reading about her son has been in the pipeline for two years, but I need to get it under wraps before it becomes a full-fledged Novel.

  5. I also kind of fell back into Stitched Up, reworked it a bit and I’m going to (hopefully) be posting regular updates. I’m considering a potential Advent event in regards to new content, but then it becomes a slippery slope of pressuring myself to write and then not being able to write anything at all.

  6. I’ve done a bit of reading this month, namely completed A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara after many months. Thoughts: it’s a good read. A tragic read, ultimately. I don’t know if I’d ever recommend it to anyone to read because it is heartbreaking and so sad that it slowly becomes very bleak. I enjoyed the aspects of Jude, JB, Willem and Malcolm’s friendship, but I found myself wishing that JB and Malcolm especially had been written by someone who was able to truly take the time to make them thrive. Arguably, this story is a telling of Jude and Willem’s relationship spanning forty years, but I really feel like JB deserved a lot more. It does get to a point where the sadness and tragedy almost stops being that, and is just awful event followed by another disgusting event strung along and wrapped up in self loathing.

  7. So anyways, tl;dr: A Little Life by Hanya Yanagihara is a sad, bleak read, written well and told beautifully across 700 pages.

  8. I’m also reading Fire and Blood by George R. R. Martin and as I’ve been long awaiting Targayren backstory, this book and the stories told in it are everything I could have asked for. Another hefty read with over 700 pages, I’m already 60% through according to GoodReads in two reading sessions.

  9. The next updates will be once I turn 20, which is, of course, very sad for all involved. I’m hoping December is a month full of discovering new things, writing new ideas and getting further into the flow of writing.

  10. As ever, fuck JKR and let’s have a good festive season!

  11. I did also update my about me page to look closer to being potentially professional looking. I don’t want to lose the essence of what I’m hoping this will be.
